GoGo Sentai Boukenger – 04 Released

please remove it, don’t think ’bout it, kimi dake no drill

Torrent (Episode 4 + Bouken History 01)
DDL (Episode 4) | DDL (Bouken History 01)
Localized Script | Weeaboo Script

i swear smile’s been done for like 3 days at this point but we’re all literally incapable of even going to the toilet by ourselves without our project leader

Oh well, have more Boukenger instead. I feel like replacing Smile with Boukenger in your diet is never going to be a bad thing, considering Bouken is sufficiently delicious and nutritious (cheeri-oh so good to eat!) In this episode, the team learns to pilot a robot that tries to kill them. And by ‘learns’ I mean something completely different entirely involving the words ‘sadist’ and ‘coercion’.

Also note I’ve been doing a ton of lyric translations the last few days, so if those interest you, you might wanna check out the Lyrics section up top.

Anyway, as ever with Bouken, there’s TL notes to make about both the ep and our various localization choices, so catch those after the jump.

GoGo Sentai Boukenger – 03 Released

these two are seriously moe as fuck

Torrent (Episodes 1-3)
DDL (Episode 3) | DDL (Bouken History 0)
Localized Script | Weeaboo Script

I’m so behind on writing these 28,000 release posts, god damn. Anyway, here’s Bouken ep 3! This is a nice little character ep establishing Souta and his DARK AND GWITTY past that made him the cheeriest motherfucker alive, which is a nice change of pace. I’ve also finally bothered making a torrent for eps 1-3, so, you know. Yay.

Also included with this ep is the first of the “Bouken History” sections, a little thing that aired after each ep where they talked about the (at the time) 29 Super Sentai shows preceding them. There was a similar thing done with Goseiger on the runup to the 35th anniversary, but those aired during the VS Theater sections so nobody gave a shit. These segments aren’t (seemingly?) included on the DVDs for whatever reason, so we’ve done them using the TV raws, which means they’re their own separate file. In future, I’ll do episode torrents with the ep and it’s Bouken History segment together, and I hope that is the most convenient solution (though it does mean the torrents will make their own directories? Tis a curious matter.)

Anyway, enjoy!

GoGo Sentai Boukenger – 02 Released

show us on the doll where he touched you

DDL

hey look an actual new episode

On today’s episode, we’re introduced to our second villain faction – the Jaryuu. Or Reptviles, if you will. We’re also reintroduced to awesome robots and Akashi being boss as fuck, which I think makes for a good mix.

TL notes, name etymologies and our ever-popular SENTAI REFERENCE OF THE WEEK after the jump:

GoGo Sentai Boukenger – DVD 1 Extras

Akashi is baller as fuck.

Series Promo

Premiere Stage Show

Press Release

So, first up today we have a trio of lovely extras from the first Boukenger DVD. These include the short promo used to showcase the series on TV after MagiRanger aired, which is so short it’s basically not even worth mentioning.

We then have the premiere stage show announcement bladefuck, which is a big event at Tokyo Dome City that all the parents can take their kids to so they can be the cool kid who got to see the new Sentai in action before the show starts airing. This role has been semi-usurped now by the end-of-series VS movie (think Gokai vs Gavan or Shinken vs Gosei) but it’s still the place to go to see the actual human team first, generally. This has our usual two flavors of localized and weeaboo.

The other thing, however, is an event specifically for the press. They sit various cast and crew down to talk about the show and it’s concepts, and their own attachment to the show, so that they can do their various articles about the actors and actresses and what-have-you. As this is specifically designed to talk about the show from a marketting and franchise standpoint, we decided to purely go with the Actual Names without localizing it up – because this isn’t an attempt at nicely-flowing storytelling but of explanation, and if you’d seen my attempt to make the “This is why we used GoGo as the title.” bit of the interview work with Driveforce, you’d probably understand why that was a bad idea.

Anyway, enjoy!

GoGo Sentai Boukenger – 01 Released

five rangers reaching for the sky in five ways

EDIT: Have a sweet ass new version with DVD raws. I’ll leave the rest of the post the same, but bump it up so people see it.

DDL

Hello! Welcome to new project time.

So, this is GoGo Sentai Boukenger. It’s the 30th Super Sentai, an anniversary series, even, and possibly my favourite of all of them. It has a great cast, nice progression, cool tech, lots of subtle little references, and, well, I just adore it. So, while it’s been subbed by T-N, the general movement to ensure all sentai has softsubs gives me justification for giving some love to one of my all-time favourite shows.

So, Boukenger. I’m working together with the lovely sgtkira of Hikari-Senshi on this lovely project. I’m handling the TL jazz and he’s doing all the actual hard work, which suits me fine. Ahem. Anyway, we’re using TV raws for this because that’s pretty much all that is actually on the goddamn internet, but we might switch up and upgrade later if we get better ones. We even had trouble finding the TV raws until the lovely ARDM came along and provided them from the depths of his reportoire.

Now, the important thing. We’re jazzing this up a bit with two seperate sub tracks. The main sub track is a full-on balls to the wall TL – weapon and mech names translated, faction names translated, anything that’s justifiably translatable, done. Western name order, and even the name of the show becomes Driveforce Advengers. Now, some of you are probably looking at this post as if I’m fucking insane, which is why there’s a second sub track which has all the names and terminology preserved as is. The weeaboo track, as I like to call it.

So, there’s something for everyone. Now, this is a side project, so don’t expect a mega-fast schedule, but I’ll try and churn out eps at a semi-tolerable pace. Mega props to my lovely co-workers for making this at all possible for me to get in with this before an actual scrub effort, and I think that’s all the general bumph out of the way.

So, actual episode talk after the jump? Sure, why not.

Anyway, enjoy!
