English Translation |
We’ll bloom and scatter, as we go into the world Once I’ve gathered up all the petals And so you falter, as life’s pressure begins to mount Through all the good times and the bad So we’ll bloom and scatter, as we go into the world Time seems to fly by, one season to another So when nostalgia catches you in its embrace, For when loneliness saps away at you So we’ll bloom and scatter, as we go into the world And one day you may end up here again And when you realize how great that kindness is So we’ll bloom and scatter, as we go into the world So we’ll bloom, oh how we’ll bloom, and nobody will stop us And anytime I don’t wanna close my eyes |
A fun fact about this song: A near-identically pronounced word, ‘saitei’, means “the worst”. And while I’d like to make a joke along those lines, this is a nice song that, surprisingly, the Kamen Rider Girls did justice to.
The original version of the song is by everset – they did Meteor’s two songs in Fourze, as well as “Free Your Heat” from Kamen Rider W under an alias (as all W’s songs were technically in-universe performed by fictional bands from the show) and is actually pretty rockin’. The song’s lyrics are surprisingly ~deep~, and I think the slightly slower version by the KRG makes that more appreciable, even though the everset version is probably a better song. That said, the latter half of the KRG version shifts back into the fast tempo and hard instrumentation of the original, but they didn’t use that bit in the show.
Anyway, talking TL, I really am not happy, doing this now, with the TL I did for this song back in the show 5-6 months ago or so. I’d kind of pegged the song, back then, as a generic farewell song that they were using for a graduation, and translated it as such, but that was a really bad misinterpretation of the subtext on my part – it’s really about being torn away from the structure of school, and the friends and memories you’ve built up, and having to forge your own path in life at the same time all that support is torn away from you. It’s not easy, it’s maybe not even something you want to do, but every step you take – good or bad – shapes you as a person more, and it’s all about ensuring that’s for the better.
At least, that’s my interpretation now, and maybe it’ll change as hard again given more time. It’s a beautiful song though, in that it’s emotive and powerful without being pretentious, and I can only hope I too am doing it something resembling justice.
