Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters

Bestial Battery Go-Busters

Romaji Lyrics English Translation

Hashire, daichi koete
Mamore, idai naru shizen

Go! Inochi no dendousha
Doubutsu aigo no tamashii wo mune ni

FIRE!

Ai, mugendai! Yuuki, zenkai!
Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters!

Hashire, tatakau tame
Taose, Mechalius Gundan

No! Yatsura wa zenjidou sa
Kikai jikake no shinryaku wo tomero!

STOP!

I, yosougai! You, shizentai!
Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters!

Ai, musenmai! Yuukigenmai!
Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters!

Doubutsu Sentai Go-Busters!

Gallop across the roaming plains!
Protect the wonders of nature!

Go! Champions of life itself!
With the spirit of animal conservation in your hearts!

FIRE!

Undying love! Endless courage!
Bestial Battery Go-Busters!

Race into the heat of battle!
Destroy the Mechalius Army!

No! They are but vile automatons!
And you must stop their invasive machinations!

Stop!

I’m totally shocked! You’re all-natural!
Bestial Battery Go-Busters!

Unflying dove! Friendless cabbage!
Bestial Battery Go-Busters!

Bestial Battery Go-Busters!

Three things. First, I really like using the word “machinations” all over the fucking place for Mechalius. It amuses me in a way it really shouldn’t.

Secondly, I made a dumb mistake in the actual subs of the movie with the fourth line: I foolishly assumed, listening by ear, the word “aigo” (protection, conservation) was “aibou” (buddy). I mean, that makes perfect thematic sense in the context of the show for it to be buddy, right, so why would I need to bother double-checking it?! Let this be a lesson: The best way to ensure one’s fallibility is to assume your logic is correct without fucking checking it. :V Anyway, I fixed the script link on the actual Over-Time page so that has a fixed version of the script if you wanna fix that error in the subs.

And thirdly, let’s talk cabbage. I’m actually amazed no-one called us out on the “Unflying dove! Friendless cabbage!” line, because it’s the kind of localization that tends to get people really mad about ~translation purity~ and what-have-you. But basically, that line is a nonsensical homonym on the equivalent line in the first chorus. “Ai, mugendai” —> “Aimu senmai”, “Yuuki zenkai” —> “Yuuki genmai”. Literally translated, these lines mean “Unwashed rice love” and “Organic brown rice”. Which, you know, means nothing and makes no sense. The point of the line is entirely that it sounds like the sensible version of the line, so you hear/see it and have a kind of delayed “…wait, what?” reaction, and I think friendless cabbage does that pretty nicely. :V

Anyway, I guess with this, my work translating Go-Busters is done. All that’s left is Kyoryuger vs. Go-Busters, which I shall pass into the capable hands of Kyoryuger translator and Over-Time’s translatoholic in chief, Heat. I know the Go-Bus translation has run into its share of silly problems – some my own making (see above :V) and some not, but overall I’m proud of what we’ve done and I’ve learned a lot, which is ultimately why I do this. And I hope that everyone’s enjoyed watching our subs as much as we’ve enjoyed making them.

My parting thanks to “Team Go-Bus” – Heat (Red Buster!), Azrael (Stag Buster!), and Makhazol (Blue Buster!). You guys were the bestest subbing buddies a guy could want. Thanks. It’s been a pleasure and an honor.
