|Romaji Lyrics||English Translation|
Honjitsu wa minna ni watashi no totteoki no
Totsuzen kokurarechatta zo! Do shiyo?!
Konna koto unbelievable da yo!
Henshin tatta no san-ken shika nai
Thinking time itsumo no san-bai
Nani ga dame de, nani ga tokui ka tte
Demo konna chance nigasanai mon!
Kondo no doyoubi! Mikka shika nai!
Nail no oteire itsumo no san-bai
Honban toujitsu! Atafuta shimakuri!
Herohero princess genba touchaku
Today, I’d like to tell you all about
This guy just confessed to me! What do I do?!
This is all so unbelievable!
I’m gonna need more than three answers, guys!
I’m thinking things over three times longer than usual
But you know, what your good and bad traits are
But I’m not gonna let this chance just slip away!
We’re going out this Saturday?! I’ve only got 3 days!
My nails are taking three times longer than usual
It’s the big day! Oh god, this is such a mess!
So the princess of the tale arrives looking dreary
And thus ends our love story!
Hooray, Do-Dai! I really like this song. It’s a very cute little story, and the rem@ster-B is a really nice adaptation of it. The original version is super upbeat and full of zany interjections, whereas this version strips out anything frivolous and renders it into a genuine little ballad that’s actually quite touching, I feel. The instrumentation is great, and Hibiki can handle the naturally zany lyrics while Chihaya’s great at the more serious parts. It’s a good combination!
A quick note about the name of the song: The rem@ster-B actually strips out one of the lines the song is named after, which makes the entire thing quite confusing. Do-Dai is short for “Doshiyo —> Daiseikou”, where Doshiyo is the “What do I do?!” that’s asked so much at the beginning of the song, and Daiseikou literally means “big success” (the full line they stripped out I would probably translate as “All’s well that ends well”, but I digress). Anyway it’s basically meant to show the path through the song of going from “HALP HOW I ROMANCE” to a happy successful love story, which is, you know. Cute.
